Quality Technician (Manufacturing)

Location: On-site in Grand Rapids, Michigan, 5 days per week

Hourly base pay: $24.78 per hour

What you will do

• Conduct first-piece, in-process, final, raw-material, and assembly inspections against specifications.
• Investigate quality issues, perform root cause analysis, initiate corrective actions, and verify resolution.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Operations to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and develop repair or rework instructions.
• Maintain records of defects, non-conforming materials, inspection results, control plans, and quality system documentation.
• Perform process and internal audits, create quality alerts, execute containment activities, and support continuous improvement.
• Collect and report quality metrics, lead problem-solving initiatives, and help reduce defects, rework, and external failures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in a technical field is preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience testing or repairing electrical and mechanical systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools such as MDI, Kaizen, and 5S.
• Knowledge of quality inspection methods, manufacturing processes, assembly operations, blueprint reading, and GD&T.
• Ability to use precision measurement instruments and electrical testing equipment such as voltmeters.
• Strong data analysis, documentation, communication, collaboration, and computer skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
