Senior Engineer, State Estimation (AI)

Location: On-site in Dallas, Texas; Boston, Massachusetts; San Diego, California; or Washington, DC, United States

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Develop advanced sensor algorithms for IMUs, radar, cameras, GPS, and other sensors.
• Improve state estimation through multi-sensor data fusion for greater accuracy and robustness.
• Design and implement real-time sensor data processing pipelines.
• Collaborate with software engineers, autonomy researchers, and hardware engineers to integrate estimation algorithms.
• Conduct experiments and field tests to validate performance in real-world environments.
• Apply current advances in sensor technologies and state estimation to autonomous aircraft systems.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 4 years with a master’s degree, 2 years with a PhD, or equivalent experience.
• Experience developing and deploying real-time sensor processing algorithms using cameras, radar, IMUs, GPS, or similar sensors.
• Strong understanding of state estimation techniques, including Kalman and particle filters.
• Experience with C++11 or newer, Linux, and command-line tools.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience shipping products through complete development cycles.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR-level security clearance is desired.

Nice to have

• Experience implementing inertial navigation algorithms on real-time processing systems.
• Knowledge of computer vision techniques.
• Experience optimizing algorithms for compute-constrained systems.
• Experience with CUDA, FPGAs, or other hardware acceleration technologies.
• Experience transitioning research and development work into production.
