Senior Firmware Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Applicants must be lawfully authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Salary: $169,000–$216,000 annually, plus potential stock options.

What you will do

• Develop reliable firmware controlling spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules throughout complete missions.
• Own software design, testing, integration, and flight operational support from requirements capture through deployment.
• Scope projects and perform initial design trades for open-ended technical problems.
• Write structured bare-metal, RTOS-based, and Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
• Build highly reliable and available software systems.
• Ensure system quality and performance through software testing, verification, and validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
• 5+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
• Experience developing and testing real-time embedded hardware and software systems.
• Professional experience with C++ and strong understanding of its language concepts.
• U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status required for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

• Safety-critical software experience, particularly in aerospace applications.
• Experience with Python or Rust.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and computer networking.
