What you will do

  • Define solar array requirements and evaluate system architectures.
  • Select and qualify materials and suppliers for solar array development.
  • Develop and qualify welding, adhesion, and solar-cell lamination processes.
  • Test and qualify designs according to AIAA S112 standards.
  • Integrate solar arrays with systems engineering, power electronics, structures, thermal, and mission assurance teams.
  • Troubleshoot issues from design through integration and testing, while supporting design reviews, drawing checks, and NASA deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, materials engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience designing, manufacturing, and verifying photovoltaics or similar composite structures.
  • Must be a U.S. person under U.S. export control rules or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends during critical mission milestones.
  • Relevant experience may correspond to Solar Array Engineer II or Senior Solar Array Engineer level.

Nice to have

  • Space-industry experience developing, building, and testing solar arrays.
  • Experience with AIAA S111/S112, spacecraft specifications, and NASA standards.
  • Failure analysis, root-cause investigation, and manufacturing problem-solving experience.
  • Experience with NX, Teamcenter, Ansys, FeMap/Nastran, Abaqus, Thermal Desktop, and GD&T under ASME Y14.5.
