Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Solar Modules)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. U.S. ITAR eligibility is required: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the necessary authorizations.

Salary: $135,000–$170,000 per year, plus potential stock options.

What you will do

• Develop and implement solar module manufacturing processes for development builds and production vehicles.
• Define manufacturing process flows and scale solar module production rates.
• Analyze manufacturing processes to reduce defects, improve quality, and increase yield.
• Lead prototype failure analysis and provide manufacturability feedback to design engineers through DFM/DFA collaboration.
• Support the production floor by resolving build issues, updating work instructions, and improving yields.
• Guide solar manufacturing technicians and support environmental and functional testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of development or manufacturing experience with terrestrial or space solar modules.
• 4+ years of experience setting up solar manufacturing lines, including stringers and laminators.
• Experience performing failure analysis of solar modules or electronic devices in development or production.
• Must meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• MS degree in a relevant engineering or science field.
• 6+ years of solar manufacturing experience, particularly for space applications.
• Expertise in material selection and failure modes for space solar modules, including cover sheets, encapsulants, interconnects, and backsheets.
• Experience providing DFM feedback for space solar modules and mitigating failure modes in LEO and GEO.
