Senior Engineer, Air Vehicle Fluid Systems (R5203)

Location: On-site in Dallas, Texas or San Diego, California; occasional travel to the Newton, Kansas flight-test site may be required.

Salary: $112,439–$168,659 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Develop liquid cooling and thermal management systems for the X-BAT jet-engine VTOL military UAV.
• Design fluid-system components and perform system and component analysis and sizing.
• Execute design, build, and test activities with rigor and speed.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manage fluid-system requirements.
• Support system checkout, ground testing, flight-test campaigns, and failure investigations.
• Own multiple aspects of X-BAT fluid-system development and provide control-room support during flight tests.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience with environmental control, liquid cooling, thermal systems, component design, system analysis, supplier management, or requirements management.
• Strong CAD skills; NX is preferred.
• Proficiency in fluid-system analysis using first principles, Simscape, Amesim, or similar methods.
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.
• Offers are contingent on a cleared background and possible reference check.

Nice to have

• Experience with vibration and shock, thermal extremes, contamination, corrosion, sand, and dust.
• Experience with reliability and safety methods such as DFMEA, FTA, fault containment, and safe-state thinking.
• Familiarity with fighter-class or larger aircraft flight-test operations, control-room operations, radio procedures, and test-data processing.
