Principal Engineer, Fluid & Thermal Systems (Aerospace)

Location: Dallas, Texas, United States; on-site

Salary: $200,000–$310,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees.

What you will do

• Own the design and analysis of fluid and thermal systems for aircraft and ground platforms.
• Develop innovative thermal solutions and use first-principles engineering to guide design decisions.
• Research technologies, create system models, and run advanced simulations to predict performance and refine designs.
• Plan and execute testing and validation, including sensor integration, data acquisition, post-processing, and requirements verification.
• Integrate fluid and thermal systems into broader architectures with cross-functional teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage suppliers, component sourcing, and trade studies.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing fluid or thermal systems.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related Engineering discipline.
• Deep knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and system-level thermal management.
• Experience with MATLAB Simscape, Amesim, Excel, MATLAB, Python, fluid and thermal testing, data acquisition, and analysis.
• Expertise with 3D CAD tools such as Siemens NX or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently, own projects, manage suppliers, and deliver in fast-paced environments. Ability to obtain an S//SAR-level security clearance is desired.

• Extensive experience designing, analyzing, manufacturing, and testing fluid and thermal systems for aircraft.
• Understanding of fluid and thermal system effects on aircraft performance.
• Experience in startup or R&D environments.
• Knowledge of environmental standards and certification processes for aerospace or defense systems.
