Salary: $137,760β$195,552 USD per year.

What you will do
- Drive make, buy, or reuse decisions for avionics boxes.
- Own in-house box development from kickoff and Rev 1 schematic/layout through procurement, PCBA fabrication, bring-up, qualification, flight build, and ATP/QTP.
- Manage the PCBA critical path, including design reviews, component procurement, fabrication, assembly, staking, and conformal coating.
- Coordinate proton and heavy-ion radiation testing and define box-level environmental qualification requirements.
- Oversee harness design and board functional checkouts.
- Design avionics for production at a scale of hundreds of spacecraft per year and coordinate with the Haven-1 avionics team.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of electronics or avionics design experience in aerospace or defense and 3+ years owning hardware programs end-to-end.
- Experience designing and delivering space-qualified avionics boxes through prototype, environmental testing, flight build, and ATP.
- Strong PCBA design skills, including schematic capture, layout, and component selection for IPC Class 3 space applications.
- Experience with radiation testing, rad-tolerant or rad-hard design, board bring-up, debugging, and functional test development.
- Familiarity with SMC-S-016 or HALT/HASS environmental qualification and EEE-INST-002 parts derating.
Nice to have
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- CMG, reaction wheel, ADCS actuator electronics, or power electronics experience.
- EMI/EMC design and testing under MIL-STD-461.
- IPC/J-STD workmanship standards knowledge.
- Experience scaling prototypes to multi-unit production with 10+ flight units.
