TL;DR
Senior Manager, Avionics Mechanical Engineering (CAD/FEA): Building and leading the mechanical engineering organization responsible for avionics systems in the X-BAT aircraft and ground vehicle with an accent on mechanical architecture, avionics packaging, thermal design, and harnessing. Focus on developing flight-critical electro-mechanical solutions, coordinating cross-functional product delivery, and taking designs from concept through manufacturing in harsh environments.

Location: On-site in San Diego, California or Dallas, Texas

Salary: $185,234–$277,850 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

  • Lead the mechanical engineering team responsible for avionics design across the X-BAT aircraft and ground vehicle.
  • Define the architecture and technical vision for mechanical, thermal, and harnessing systems.
  • Build the organization by developing team leads and sub-managers and significantly growing the team.
  • Partner with electrical engineering, RF, PCB design, reliability, supply chain, structures, manufacturing, and other disciplines.
  • Deliver complex electro-mechanical solutions for flight-critical avionics systems operating in harsh environments.
  • Drive designs from concept through manufacturing while maintaining strong technical standards.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical design around electronics and electrical systems.
  • Strong CAD experience with NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar tools for 3D modeling, drawings, and system layout.
  • Experience developing avionics packaging with electrical engineers.
  • Experience with finite element analysis, thermal analysis, and fatigue or lifecycle testing.
  • Experience working with fabrication shops, contract manufacturers, and suppliers; ability to obtain a Secret-level security clearance.
