TL;DR
Senior Manager, Fluid Systems Design (Aerospace): Leading the design and integration of propulsion, thermal control, and ECLSS fluid systems for future Haven space-station modules with an accent on component-level flight hardware design, vehicle packaging, and cross-functional engineering leadership. Focus on designing high-pressure fluid systems, validating fracture-critical hardware, coordinating CDR/PDR actions, and resolving manufacturing and integration challenges.

Location: Onsite in Long Beach, California, United States. The role requires eligibility to access information and items subject to U.S. export controls.

Salary: $164,000–$232,800 USD per year in California.

Company

hirify.global develops next-generation commercial space stations, including the Haven station family, to support continuous human presence, microgravity research, manufacturing, and the emerging space economy.

What you will do

  • Lead the design team translating propulsion, thermal control, and ECLSS architecture into vehicle packaging for future Haven modules.
  • Own component-level design practices for pressure vessels, tubing routings, fluid seals, control valves, fans, filters, and ducting.
  • Develop design process tools and partner with the information systems team on design tool deployment.
  • Lead, mentor, and allocate designers across the fluid systems engineering organization.
  • Coordinate with structures, analysis, test, manufacturing, operations, external partners, and government agencies on integration, validation, and supplier qualification.
  • Support design reviews, risk management, action-item tracking, lessons learned, and resolution of manufacturing and integration challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or another technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of system design experience with component-level design authority on flight hardware, preferably in propulsion, thermal, or ECLSS systems.
  • 2+ years overseeing or managing a technical engineering team.
  • Expertise in fluid system design and experience with high-pressure systems, including fracture criticality.
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, feed-system ConOps, fill-and-drain considerations, design reviews, risk tracking, and action-item management.
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing, including U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, and eligible asylees or refugees.

Nice to have

  • Experience building in-house design-team capabilities and working in a startup or fast-paced development environment.
  • Background in mission operations involving propulsion, thermal, or ECLSS systems.
  • Experience with component and hardware-in-the-loop test environments.
  • Familiarity with electric propulsion interfaces, tubing assembly, design for manufacturing, and design for assembly.
  • Background in fracture mechanics or composite overwrap pressure-vessel certification.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time exempt employment with company equity.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.
  • Paid time off, paid parental leave, disability insurance, and life insurance.
  • Access to a 401(k) retirement plan, ClassPass credits, personalized mental healthcare, and other discounts.
  • Onsite food perks including snacks, coffee, drinks, dinner meals, and subsidized lunch.
