Eligibility Officer - Workers Compensation

What you will do

• Assess workers compensation claims and decide whether to accept or reject them.
• Transition accepted claims to appropriate Case Managers for ongoing management.
• Calculate PIAWE and provide rationale for original decisions to Dispute Resolution Managers.
• Identify recovery potential within claims.
• Apply relevant legislation and WorkCover scheme requirements while meeting WorkSafe objectives.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in initial claims assessment as a Case Manager, or at least 1 year in a paralegal or legal assistant position.
• Strong knowledge of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation & Compensation Act 2013 and associated Regulations, and/or a legal qualification.
• Experience with a WorkCover scheme and the ability to follow rules and regulations.
• Problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, influencing, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail, organizational and planning skills, resilience, adaptability, and a strong customer service focus.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, plus intermediate to advanced knowledge of ACCtion, Novus, or a similar case management system.
