TL;DR
NDE Specialist II, PAUT (Aerospace) (PAUT/UT): Developing and executing nondestructive inspection techniques for rocket parts and assemblies with an accent on probability-of-detection trials, qualification plans, automated inspection systems, and compliance with aerospace standards. Focus on evaluating PAUT datasets, determining accept/reject criteria, mentoring inspectors, and troubleshooting inspection equipment in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Location: On-site at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi, United States. Successful candidates must clear a US government-administered background check to obtain clearance for on-site work at the government partner location. Open to 10–25% travel.
Salary: $41.20–$61.80 USD per hour, plus salary and equity-based total rewards.

What you will do
- Lead feasibility studies, probability-of-detection trials, and qualification plans with NDE engineers and UT/PAUT inspectors.
- Develop, document, and publish part-specific PAUT inspection techniques for components and assemblies.
- Perform UT/PAUT inspections, evaluate datasets, and apply accept/reject criteria.
- Design, implement, and optimize automated inspection systems with internal teams and external partners.
- Mentor specialists and inspectors, manage technical tasks, and oversee project segments independently.
- Conduct internal and external audits, troubleshoot inspection equipment, and communicate findings through formal reports.
Requirements
- Current NDE Level II or III certification in ultrasonics, including UTSW and PAUT.
- At least 10 years of total NDE experience, including 6 years in commercial aerospace manufacturing or another heavily regulated industry.
- Experience contributing substantially to multiple medium- to high-complexity projects.
- Deep knowledge of NDE inspection plans, procedures, techniques, and applicable industry standards.
- Ability to pass the required US government background check for on-site work.
Nice to have
- ASNT NDE Level 3 certification in UT.
- Additional NDE certifications in ET, ECA, PT, MT, VT, or CWI, plus basic RT knowledge.
- Experience with additively manufactured materials, diverse materials and geometries, or volumetric technique qualification.
- Knowledge of NASA, AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM, CAD, third-party NDE vendor auditing, QA/QC, or Lean Manufacturing.
