Staff Engineer, Quality Assurance (Aerospace)

Location: Wichita Metro Area, United States; on-site

Salary: $110,000–$160,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees

What you will do

• Support quality planning, inspections, readiness, and acceptance activities for the X-BAT weapons system and subsystems.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria.
• Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, first article inspections, nonconformance reports, corrective actions, and quality records.
• Lead root cause analysis, containment, corrective and preventive actions, and material review board activities.
• Analyze defect trends, performance, escape rates, process capability, and product reliability to identify improvements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, test operations, supply chain, program leadership, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and ensure compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM, quality engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience supporting developmental test operations.
• 5–10 years of experience with developmental or operational ground and flight testing, unmanned or manned aircraft systems, aircraft integration, or aerospace systems engineering.
• Experience with quality engineering, manufacturing or supplier quality, production support, aerospace hardware, or ground and flight test execution.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, bills of materials, work instructions, and inspection requirements.
• Experience with nonconformance management, root cause analysis, corrective actions, trend analysis, quality documentation, inspection methods, measurement tools, and aerospace manufacturing processes.
• Ability to work on-site in the Wichita Metro Area, travel, work outdoors at test ranges, and provide overtime or weekend coverage as required.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of relevant aerospace, aircraft integration, or ground and flight test experience.
• Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, Department of War, and other aerospace or defense quality standards.
• Experience with first article inspections, prototype aircraft, weapon systems, configuration management, drawing releases, and engineering changes.
• Experience with 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, FMEA, control plans, or process capability analysis.
• Certified Quality Engineer or Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification.
