Director of Quality Assurance

Salary: $180,000–$225,000 per year

hirify.global is developing a commercial fusion-energy system based on stellarator physics and computer-controlled arrays of planar coils.

What you will do

• Establish foundational quality documentation, execute first-article inspections, and build quality frameworks from the ground up.
• Design and implement an enterprise-wide Quality Management System compliant with applicable rigorous standards.
• Develop the hiring roadmap and recruit, mentor, and lead quality engineers and inspectors.
• Build supplier-quality governance, audit critical vendors, and manage incoming and in-process validation for complex hardware components.
• Partner with engineering and manufacturing to integrate quality checks and risk-mitigation frameworks into hardware and software designs.
• Lead internal audits, anomaly investigations, root cause analysis, and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• 10–15+ years of progressive Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, advanced energy, or another high-consequence complex industry.
• Experience scaling a quality department from the ground up in a hardware startup or early-stage manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, NQA-1, or equivalent quality frameworks.
• Ability to combine strategic leadership with hands-on troubleshooting of hardware non-conformances.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional technical teams.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work around industrial hazards, and occasionally travel or work nights, weekends, or on-call shifts.

Nice to have

• OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent experience.
