Quality Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; on-site work in an office and manufacturing environment

Salary: $85,000–$125,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Support incoming inspection and module and vehicle kitting inspection as a key point of contact.
• Develop inspection metrics and analyze quality and reliability data for products, processes, components, modules, and vehicle assemblies.
• Execute and improve plant-wide quality management systems, quality assurance plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop preventive and corrective quality processes using PPAP Core Tools, CAPA, and RCCA to reduce defects.
• Manage material review board dispositions, customer quality complaints, contract reviews, and corrective actions.
• Improve supplier quality in coordination with Purchasing and organize quality-related training across departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a quality function within a high-reliability manufacturing environment, including at least 1 year of electronics experience.
• Experience with root-cause investigation, corrective and preventive actions, process capability, gauging, SPC, APQP, and quality management systems including ISO 9001 and AS9100.
• Knowledge of IPC industry standards, MIL-STD, NASA workmanship acceptability guidelines, and AIAG Core Tools including SPC, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, and QSA.
• Excellent visual acuity and the ability to distinguish a wide range of colors for detailed inspections and quality control tasks.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance and meet U.S. space technology export authorization requirements.

Nice to have

• ASQ CQE, CQA, CQM-OE, or Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
• Experience with ATEX, IECEx, or Metro certification audits.
