Product Development Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan. The role is fully onsite in a laboratory and office environment; remote work is available upon request.

What you will do

• Lead next-generation membrane development for semiconductor applications and the Liquid Microcontamination Control business.
• Manage membrane development activities in Japan and collaborate closely with outsourced suppliers.
• Establish sustained experimental methods for next-generation membrane technologies.
• Investigate technical challenges and support troubleshooting for other departments.
• Collaborate with engineering, applications, and product marketing teams to meet or exceed customer specifications.
• Introduce capital equipment to expand engineering capabilities in Japan.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in chemical analysis or product development.
• Ability to work fully onsite in both laboratory and office environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to drive projects to completion, collaborate across functions, and apply technical knowledge to continuous improvement.

Nice to have

• R&D experience with filtration and separation membranes.
• Experience with liquid filtration or purification technologies.
• Analytical experience using SEM, ICP-MS, GC, or FTIR.
• Knowledge of front-end semiconductor manufacturing.
