Director, Forward Deployed Engineering (AI)

What you will do

• Own delivery outcomes across a portfolio of strategic accounts from signed SOW through production go-live and expansion.
• Set engagement scope, milestones, dependencies, value hypotheses, and technical delivery roadmaps.
• Lead C-suite briefings, steering committees, executive relationships, and escalation management.
• Hire, manage, coach, and develop Forward Deployed Engineers and Team Leads while allocating staffing across accounts.
• Oversee technical discovery, data and integration assessment, MVP definition, architecture discussions, and feasibility evaluation.
• Drive use-case adoption, pilot-to-production conversion, ROI measurement, expansion opportunities, and reusable delivery playbooks.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in management consulting or forward-deployed engineering/delivery leadership, including enterprise software, professional services, or technical consulting.
• Experience managing, hiring, developing, and performance-managing engineering or delivery teams.
• Track record owning complex, multi-workstream delivery for Fortune 500 or large public-sector clients across simultaneous engagements.
• Production experience deploying AI agents, LLM-based systems, or enterprise AI platforms, with fluency in data architecture, integration patterns, and agentic systems.
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to run C-suite briefings, manage executive stakeholders, evaluate technical trade-offs, and read pull requests or technical design documents.

Nice to have

• Associate Partner or Principal-level consulting leadership experience at McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or equivalent.
• Experience in advanced manufacturing, energy, heavy industrial, CPG, agriculture, defense, or the public sector.
• Experience with forward-deployed delivery models or building and scaling a delivery function.
