Engineering Technician II, Test Operations (Contract) (Clean Energy)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; onsite work

Salary: $35–$60 per hour, depending on experience and other business considerations.

What you will do

• Monitor ongoing tests for home energy products and support day-to-day engineering operations.
• Take pre- and post-test photos, perform functional inspections of devices under test, and identify anomalies.
• Run test scripts, swap equipment between test runs, and support minor repairs such as replacing inverters or battery blocks.
• Support offsite testing when needed.
• Tag devices under test, maintain post-test inventory, and keep test benches, equipment, and labels organized.
• Maintain common lab equipment inventory, support lab upkeep, and flag equipment issues or process improvements.

Requirements

• Hands-on, detail-oriented approach with strong documentation habits and comfort performing teardown and inspection work.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions and flag issues.
• Ability to complete high-voltage and low-voltage safety training and work cautiously around electronics.
• Ability to operate Python scripts and use a terminal.
• Ability to read basic electrical schematics.
• Experience with test harnesses, environmental chambers, test equipment, home batteries, solar systems, or residential electrical work.
