Staff Engineer - Terminal Software (Embedded)

Location: Germantown, Maryland or Carlsbad, California, United States. Travel up to 10%.

Salary: $165,000–$260,500 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $205,000–$307,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deliver, and support embedded software for Ka-band, L-band, and 5G satellite terminal products.
• Drive software architecture and its evolution across multiple software teams.
• Lead software design, development, testing, and code reviews.
• Guide near-term and long-term software priorities while contributing as an individual engineer.
• Coach engineers through design and code reviews, training sessions, and one-on-one mentoring.
• Work as part of an agile development team and promote high-quality engineering practices.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience using C, C++, or Rust in embedded environments.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Extensive experience with object-oriented software development.
• Experience delivering software with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating software architecture, design, and existing codebases.
• US citizenship or permanent residence required.
