Senior Flight Software Engineer I (Embedded)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based out of the headquarters

Salary: $124,000–$171,000 USD base pay annually in California.

What you will do

• Develop application software for real-time operating systems and embedded Linux.
• Build hardware drivers for IMUs, star trackers, reaction wheels, and other spacecraft sensors and actuators.
• Develop comprehensive unit tests and integrate them into continuous integration workflows.
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify combined software and hardware functionality.
• Work with systems and embedded systems engineers to define, document, and validate requirements.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and on-orbit or interplanetary flight operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
• 5+ years of applicable embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++.
• Experience with RTOS or embedded Linux.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and meet applicable U.S. space technology export requirements.

Nice to have

• Active Secret or TS/SCI security clearance.
• Advanced degree.
• Experience with CAN/CAN-FD, UDP/TCP, and embedded systems.
• Experience developing software for autonomous vehicles operating in harsh environments such as satellites.
