Senior Staff System Architect (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in the United States, with in-office work at least 3 days per week. Available hirify.global offices include Mountain View, Bozeman, Coppell, Livonia, Louisville, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Salary: $197,000–$285,000 per year, plus annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define and maintain system architecture for complex hardware/software integrated products.
• Translate product and market requirements into system specifications, functional decompositions, and architecture artifacts.
• Conduct trade-off analyses across performance, security, reliability, power, thermal, and cost considerations.
• Select technologies for processors, memory, storage, networking, management controllers, and other core system elements.
• Establish interface standards, lead architecture reviews, and manage cross-domain technical risks.
• Support design, validation, and manufacturing readiness while mentoring engineering staff in system-level decision-making.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree focused on electrical or computer engineering.
• 12+ years of experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives and resolving integration challenges.
• Expertise in system architecture, signal and power integrity, and high-speed signaling.
• Experience with hardware/software co-design, compute architecture, networking, power and thermal management, and system security.
• Familiarity with PCIe, Ethernet, GMSL, NVMe, CAN, I²C, SPI, and emerging protocols.
• Current authorization to work lawfully in the United States is required; visa sponsorship may be required according to the application process.

Nice to have

• Experience with driverless automotive systems, LiDAR system architecture, or network design.
• Understanding of AI/ML accelerators and energy-efficient compute design.
• Experience with performance modeling, cost optimization, workload-driven architecture, FPGA/ASIC design, or ISO 26262 safety and qualification processes.
