Software Engineer - NTN (Embedded Systems)

Location: Germantown, Maryland or Carlsbad, California; site-based role requiring work from a hirify.global office or work location at least 3 days per week

Salary: $140,500–$221,500 annually; $174,000–$261,000 annually for specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area.

What you will do

• Design and implement management applications for configuring, updating, and monitoring hardware systems and FPGAs.
• Develop and maintain embedded management software for a global NTN RAN using O-RAN RU M-plane technologies.
• Maintain and automate CI/CD pipelines for builds, testing, and deployments.
• Update and maintain production applications and networks in a DevOps model.
• Provide weekly 12-hour on-call support for production and laboratory environments.
• Collaborate with the Programmable Logic team to support new devices, features, and required configurations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of experience with 3GPP and NTN technologies.
• Experience in network programming and embedded environments.
• Experience integrating O-RAN-based radio units across C/U/S/M-planes.
• Proficiency with NetConf and YANG, plus experience integrating multi-vendor and open-source software.
• US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required.

Nice to have

• C++ and Perforce experience.
• Experience with 3GPP, O-RAN M-plane, and eCPRI technologies.
• Strong understanding of multithreading and operating system concepts.
