Lead, Applications Engineer, Silicon Carbide Materials

Location: Decatur, Texas, United States. Occasional global travel is required. Must be able to comply with federally mandated U.S. export control requirements.

What you will do

• Develop, validate, and introduce graphite and silicon carbide materials for wide-bandgap transistor processing.
• Support material introduction across crystal pulling and epitaxial growth processes.
• Characterize graphite, silicon carbide, and coating grades in application environments.
• Work with customers to understand requirements, failure modes, and equipment validation needs.
• Collaborate with R&D, materials synthesis, and FEA modeling teams.
• Manage development schedules, vendor relationships, partnerships, and scale-up plans.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with at least 3 years of experience; or bachelor’s degree in one of these fields with at least 5 years of experience.
• Alternatively, 10+ years of experience in SiC wafer manufacturing, LED manufacturing, or wide-bandgap semiconductor processing.
• Materials understanding and applications knowledge in wide-bandgap semiconductor processing, SiC crystal growth using PVT, or silicon crystal pulling.
• Experience with FEA modeling, DOE methodologies or tools, and cross-functional development projects.
• Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of project management experience.
• Experience leading development efforts with stage-gated tracking software.
• Experience in an ISO 9000/14000 environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
