RF Engineer, Frequency Synthesis (Aerospace)

Location: Site-based role in Tempe, Arizona; Carlsbad, California; Duluth, Georgia; or Remote - Colorado, Colorado. Employees work at least 3 days (60%+) per week from a hirify.global office or work location. US citizenship required.

Salary: $141,500–$224,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $176,000–$264,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design and develop frequency synthesis architectures, including PLLs, VCOs, reference oscillator subsystems, and clock distribution networks.
• Perform RF analysis, simulation, and validation for phase noise, jitter, spectral purity, and other performance requirements.
• Lead schematic capture and implementation of frequency generation and clock distribution circuits.
• Oversee oscillator vendors, including specification definition, performance evaluation, qualification, and component selection.
• Integrate RF hardware with reference oscillator systems and spacecraft subsystems while supporting production and validation.
• Participate in architecture trade studies, design reviews, test readiness reviews, and anomaly resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of RF engineering experience supporting frequency synthesis hardware.
• Demonstrated expertise in PLL design, VCO design, and reference oscillator selection and integration.
• Strong experience with clocking systems, frequency generation, signal integrity, phase noise, jitter, and frequency stability analysis.
• Experience working with vendors and manufacturing partners, including oscillator suppliers.
• Ability to work independently on defined technical problems with minimal instruction.

• Experience supporting spacecraft or payload RF frequency generation systems.
• Experience integrating reference oscillators in production environments.
• Strong analytical skills and disciplined documentation practices.
• Ability to communicate complex RF and frequency synthesis topics to cross-disciplinary teams.
