Software Development Engineer III (Java) - Quote API

Location: London, UK; hybrid setup with 60% of the week spent collaborating at office locations or local sites and the remainder remotely.

What you will do

• Design and implement end-to-end systems using deep JVM and Java ecosystem expertise.
• Translate product requirements into maintainable code and develop test-driven features using TDD and BDD.
• Apply SOLID principles and cohesive design to build scalable software.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain infrastructure for an internet-facing pricing and promotions API running in stores and the cloud.
• Collaborate with product stakeholders, support production systems, resolve incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and evaluate new tools and technologies.
• Mentor engineers and share knowledge across the wider engineering community.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Java 8+ and the Java/JVM ecosystem.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Proficiency with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proven ability to scale systems effectively.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall.
• Exposure to reactive programming paradigms.

Nice to have

• Experience with eCommerce or search systems.
