Senior Algorithms and Simulation Software Engineer (Python/C++)

Location: Devens, Massachusetts, United States; workplace: hybrid. Occasional travel, nights, weekends, or on-call work may be required.

What you will do

• Develop state estimation and control algorithms for mission-critical real-time applications.
• Build software infrastructure for hardware-in-the-loop and software-only testbeds.
• Develop real-time and high-fidelity simulation models and supporting infrastructure.
• Create offline data analysis tools and contribute to the broader software ecosystem.
• Define and execute end-to-end and integrated test cases and test plans for SPARC control software.
• Collect functional requirements and integrate software with software testbeds, hardware testbeds, and production tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Professional experience developing real-time state estimation and control algorithms and production-quality software.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one real-time control language, such as C++ or Rust.
• Experience with modern software development practices, including CI/CD, Git, unit testing, and integration testing.
• Ability to comply with U.S. Export Control Laws for controlled or protected technologies and information. Safety commitment and ability to work around industrial hazards, including high voltage, strong magnets, pressure systems, and cryogenics, are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop and software-only testbeds.
• Experience developing models to validate software.
• Familiarity with Linux and general networking, including IP/UDP.
