TL;DR
Automation Engineering Support Technician - 2nd Shift (2pm - 10pm) (Industrial Automation): Maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated manufacturing equipment for precision fiber optic connectivity products with an accent on robotics, PLC-controlled systems, vision inspection, and electromechanical equipment. Focus on diagnosing root causes, reducing production downtime, supporting equipment installations, and improving safety, repeatability, throughput, and product quality.

Location: Fort Worth, Texas, United States. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not provided. Second shift: 2pm–10pm.

What you will do

  • Install, start up, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated manufacturing equipment, including robotics, PLC-controlled systems, HMIs, servo systems, vision inspection equipment, conveyors, pneumatic devices, and electromechanical systems.
  • Diagnose root causes of production equipment issues and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and extend equipment life.
  • Assist Automation Engineers with production trials, equipment performance improvements, process optimization, and new automation technology implementation.
  • Monitor automated processes and identify improvements in safety, quality, repeatability, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Maintain equipment records, procedures, calibration documentation, troubleshooting logs, training materials, and change documentation while coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience supporting automated assembly equipment in a production environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electromechanical equipment.
  • Familiarity with industrial robotics, PLCs, HMIs, servo motion systems, sensors, and machine vision systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety practices, including lockout/tagout and machine safety principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and prioritization skills.

Nice to have

  • Associate degree in Automation Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Basic PLC programming and troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Experience with precision manufacturing, automated assembly, or inspection equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; CAD and industrial automation software experience is a plus.
