Location: Hybrid in the Washington, D.C. metro area (DC, Maryland, or Virginia). The role requires residence in, at least three years of residence in, or significant knowledge of the DMV region, and willingness to relocate to the chapter location. Frequent local travel for Hill visits, headquarters meetings, and events is required; overnight travel for organizational gatherings occurs several times per year and is under 25%.
Salary: $128,000–$177,000 annually.

What you will do
- Lead strategy, operations, programs, staff, volunteers, budget, partnerships, and long-term sustainability for the flagship NCR Chapter.
- Build relationships with members of Congress, congressional staff, Administration officials, military leaders, corporations, foundations, and philanthropic partners.
- Develop and execute a chapter sustainability plan targeting sustained annual revenue above $1 million.
- Secure major gifts and diversify revenue through sponsorships, foundations, workplace giving, government opportunities, and community campaigns.
- Represent the organization at Capitol Hill briefings, hearings, community events, and high-visibility engagements on behalf of the CEO and President.
- Oversee program execution, data-driven evaluation, compliance, KPIs, risk management, communications, and regional expansion.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in community development, nonprofit leadership, or strategic partnerships.
- 5+ years of staff management experience and strong organizational management skills covering budgets, planning, KPIs, and team development.
- Proven six-figure fundraising success; experience building toward seven-figure revenue is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with Congress, government agencies, or political campaigns, with established or rapidly buildable Washington, DC relationships.
- Executive communication skills, advisory board or governance experience, political judgment, discretion, and bipartisan relationship management.
- Availability for nights and weekends at essential community events and ability to lift or carry supplies and equipment up to 30 lbs.
Nice to have
- CRM experience, with Salesforce experience as a plus.
- Understanding of military culture, military families, and programs.
- Experience on Capitol Hill, in government affairs, a national trade association, or a federal agency.
- Existing relationships with DC-based corporate, philanthropic, or government funders.
