Digital Forensic Examiner, Mid (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote, United States; occasional in-person work at a company or customer facility may be required.

Salary: $69,400–$158,000 annualized USD

What you will do

• Lead and support scoping calls and lifecycle management for digital forensics and incident response matters.
• Manage cyber incident investigations involving forensic, malware, and log analysis.
• Collect and analyze forensic images and triage datasets to identify malware, indicators of compromise, unauthorized access, and data exfiltration.
• Correlate events from multiple sources to create timeline analyses.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and communicate findings in writing and orally to clients, counsel, leadership, and senior reviewers.
• Generate case paperwork, complete data entry, and guide or mentor junior personnel.

Requirements

• Experience managing large-scale, complex investigations through the full case lifecycle, including direct personnel management on cases.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows and non-Windows systems such as Mac or Linux.
• Experience with scripting or programming, such as PowerShell or Python.
• Experience with forensic and incident response methodologies, log analysis, and identifying malware or unauthorized activity.
• Ability to write detailed reports, communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, prioritize assignments, and work independently in collaborative environments.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice to have

• At least one year of incident response or digital forensics experience.
• Experience with EnCase, FTK, Axiom, Splunk, ELK Stack, and open-source forensic applications.
• Experience with mobile devices and endpoint detection and response tools such as SentinelOne.
• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, a master’s degree, or relevant certifications such as CCE, EnCE, CFCE, ACE, CISSP, GIAC, GCFE, GCFA, GREM, or GNFA.
