Brake CAE Virtual Integration Engineer/Senior Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid attendance required at least three times per week. The role requires the candidate to be a U.S. Person and does not provide relocation benefits.

What you will do

• Create structural and CFD simulations for brake system design, development, and validation.
• Connect component-level physics with full-vehicle performance for battery electric vehicle programs.
• Present analysis results, provide design recommendations, and document engineering work.
• Develop virtual test and validation methods, CAE techniques, automation tools, and data-driven workflows.
• Lead collaboration with product development, vehicle integration, design release, validation, and supplier engineering teams.
• Provide technical leadership for advanced technology development, requirements balancing, and complex design analysis.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field.
• 2+ years of relevant CFD and/or FEA experience for Engineer level, or 5+ years for Senior Engineer level.
• Experience analyzing, designing, or testing brake noise.
• Experience predicting frequencies and mode shapes with ABAQUS or equivalent tools.
• Experience predicting fatigue life using DesignLife and ABAQUS or hardware test data.
• Familiarity with LS-Dyna, ABAQUS, SimSolid, OptiStruct, and Star CCM+; strong analytical, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Nice to have

• MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Knowledge of brake component manufacturing, hardware test methods, tire modeling, and brake pad tribology.
• Experience with ABAQUS brake noise and nonlinear dynamic analysis, complex eigenvalue analysis, and multibody system dynamics.
• Familiarity with UG-NX, MATLAB, and DFSS Black Belt certification.
