Operational Risk Manager (Fintech)

Location: Remote within the United States or Canada

What you will do

• Design and implement the operational risk framework, including loss event categories, business-line ownership, and integration with enterprise risk management.
• Build and maintain the operational loss event database, including categorization, root-cause analysis, and control improvements.
• Design and run the RCSA process across business lines and produce outputs for risk reporting.
• Conduct scenario analysis for settlement failures, infrastructure outages, third-party dependency failures, and payment disruptions.
• Independently test key operational controls and report findings to the CRO and Risk Committee.
• Embed Risk in the Engineering post-incident process by reviewing PIRs, tracking remediation, and escalating recurring patterns.

Requirements

• 5+ years of operational risk management experience, including at least 2 years in a dedicated OpRisk role at a regulated financial services institution.
• Hands-on experience designing or running an RCSA methodology and presenting outputs to a risk committee or board.
• Experience with operational loss event categorization, database design, and program-level root-cause analysis.
• Experience designing and facilitating operational risk scenarios with quantified board-level outputs.
• Experience working with Engineering or Technology teams in a risk capacity.
• Strong written communication for RCSA narratives, scenario summaries, and board-level reports.

Nice to have

• Experience in digital assets, payments, or fintech with complex technology-dependent operations.
• Familiarity with model risk management inventories, validation requirements, and tiering frameworks.
• ORM, FRM, PRM, or equivalent risk credential.
