Embedded Software Engineer (Rust)

Location: Onsite in Linthicum Heights, Maryland; Tampa, Florida; Tempe, Arizona; or Carlsbad, California

Salary: $117,000–$185,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $145,000–$218,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design and implement embedded software in Rust and C/C++.
• Develop, test, and certify next-generation encryptors for government networks.
• Build software for Layer 2 and Layer 3 inline network encryptors, embedded cryptographic devices, and emerging cryptographic solutions.
• Use Linux in embedded environments and work with TCP/IP, network configuration, and networking protocols including IPsec, MACsec, and TLS.
• Contribute to CI/CD and Agile Scrum development while planning, tracking, and reporting progress.
• Collaborate with system, test, hardware, and other multidisciplinary engineering teams as capabilities transition into service.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of Rust experience, preferably developing production software for embedded devices.
• Embedded software design and implementation experience with C/C++.
• At least 1 year of Linux experience, preferably in an embedded environment, plus basic TCP/IP knowledge and object-oriented software development experience.
• US citizenship and an active SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance are required.
• Ability to travel up to 10% and communicate effectively in oral and written form.

Nice to have

• Agile Scrum development experience and Linux kernel driver development or modification experience.
• Experience with bare-metal device drivers, NIOS, ARM, or RISC-V processors.
• RESTCONF interface design and implementation experience.
• Experience with emulation environments, standalone embedded applications, Python, and networking protocols.
