What you will do

• Set the technical architecture and vision for the Intercom product line.
• Develop intelligent cloud-managed Intercom systems enabling calls from anywhere with rich video and 2-way audio.
• Drive product ideas from early concepts to completion with strong technical ownership.
• Collaborate with firmware, backend, and frontend engineers to deliver best-in-class product experiences.
• Tackle large, complex problems with no clear answers and continuously improve system reliability and security.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience working on Linux development as a software engineer.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++.
• Hands-on familiarity with Linux servers, Linux device drivers, Linux kernel patches, secure operating systems, and security-focused programming.
• Experience with embedded Linux (preferred), plus Bash scripting.
• Experience with Yocto and familiarity with Secure Boot.
• Onsite requirement: must be able to work onsite five days per week in San Mateo, CA.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Go and Python.
• Familiarity with WebRTC.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Understanding of HTTP and practical debugging techniques.
• Willingness to travel internationally 2x a year.

Salary: $210,000 - $300,000 USD (annual on-target earnings)
