TL;DR
Data Engineer (Azure) (Microsoft Fabric/Azure Synapse): Building and maintaining a Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse while migrating an Azure Synapse enterprise data warehouse and analytics platform, with an accent on scalable pipelines, dimensional models, and secure production data delivery. Focus on optimizing SQL and Spark workloads, implementing monitoring and data quality controls, integrating diverse source systems and APIs, and resolving production incidents.
Location: Remote within the United States, limited to residents of AL, AZ, CT, FL, GA, HI, IA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MD, MA, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI, or WY

What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and Azure Synapse data warehouse solutions.
- Develop, optimize, and deploy ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, transformations, and integrations from diverse source systems.
- Implement data quality, validation, governance, monitoring, alerting, and operational practices.
- Tune SQL, Spark jobs, and pipeline workloads for scalability, performance, cost, reliability, and security.
- Respond to production incidents, troubleshoot root causes, and implement durable solutions.
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, product and business stakeholders, distributed teams, and Agile/Scrum groups.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in data warehousing or data engineering.
- Production experience with Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure Databricks.
- Strong SQL skills plus Python or scripting for transformation, automation, and tooling.
- Experience building and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines and data models.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams, conducting code reviews, and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Full-time W-2 employment; candidates must reside in one of the listed US states.
Nice to have
- Healthcare data systems or Applied Behavior Analysis experience.
- C# experience for API integrations and services.
- Exposure to AI tools and platforms such as Azure OpenAI, Claude, or Cursor.
- Experience collaborating with distributed or offshore teams.
