Director, AI & Data Science (AI)

Location: New York, NY; based in the NYC office on a hybrid 3–2 schedule, with in-office work Tuesday–Thursday and work-from-home options Monday and Friday. Applicants working in the United States must already have work authorization that does not require current or future visa sponsorship.

Salary: Base salary starting from $230,000 plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead, manage, mentor, and grow the Data Science & Modeling team while remaining hands-on with model design, validation, and technical review.
• Own the technical roadmap and standards for model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and production delivery.
• Partner with full-stack, data pipeline, and operations engineering teams to build reliable infrastructure and ship models cleanly.
• Shape customer-facing and internal AI strategy with the CTO, including AI-powered features, workflows, and tooling adoption.
• Identify and prioritize use cases such as agentic workflows, LLM-powered features, and automation of modeling and reporting.
• Advise product, sales, executive, and technical stakeholders on AI capabilities, tradeoffs, risks, and limitations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or an equivalent field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least 8 years of experience in data science, quantitative modeling, or applied machine learning, including hands-on model building.
• At least 4 years of experience leading and running an engineering team, including roadmap planning and goal setting.
• Expertise in Python, NumPy, scikit-learn, pandas, and SQL.
• Experience shaping or executing AI strategy and deploying production AI systems with cloud-native technologies, containerization, and orchestration.
• Working knowledge of LLM and agentic AI concepts, including RAG, tool use, evaluation, guardrails, and LLMOps, plus strong cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with financial data systems and pipelines, structured finance, commercial real estate, or banking datasets.
• Experience with MLOps, model lifecycle management, versioning, deployment, monitoring, APIs, and related tooling.
• Experience scaling internal AI tooling and adoption programs.
• Background in financial services, commercial real estate, or a related industry.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, AWS, and GitHub-based engineering workflows.
