Manager, Data Science (AI)

Location: Brooklyn, NY, United States (hirify.global HQ). Office-centric work is expected, with the option to work remotely on Fridays according to company policy.

Salary: $160,000–$195,000 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop the Data Science team while providing technical direction, feedback, and career development.
• Define the technical roadmap and priorities for Data Science in partnership with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders.
• Design, build, deploy, and improve recommendation systems, personalization solutions, ranking models, customer similarity models, and behavioral segmentation.
• Analyze customer, product, and inventory data to identify opportunities for machine learning and AI-driven customer experiences.
• Design and analyze experiments, A/B tests, and causal inference frameworks to measure product and business impact.
• Drive best practices in experimentation, statistical rigor, model governance, machine learning development, hiring, and talent evaluation.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Product Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
• 2+ years leading Data Science teams or technical initiatives, or equivalent technical mentorship and project leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience developing predictive, statistical, or machine learning models and querying large-scale datasets.
• Strong foundation in statistics, experimentation, hypothesis testing, and causal inference.
• Experience designing and deploying recommendation systems, personalization solutions, ranking models, segmentation frameworks, or similar machine learning applications.

Nice to have

• Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure cloud AI/ML platforms and managed models; GCP experience is especially valued.
• Experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, dbt, and modern analytics engineering practices.
• Advanced degrees or quantitative specializations.
