Senior Infrastructure Engineer (CDN)

Location: Washington, D.C.; Sarasota; Miami; New York City; or Toronto, Canada

Annual compensation: $150,000–$195,000 USD base plus benefits and equity for candidates based in the United States; $132,000–$158,000 CAD base plus benefits and equity for candidates based in Canada.

What you will do

• Design, build, operate, and improve CDN and edge-delivery infrastructure for a high-volume video platform.
• Optimize video delivery performance through caching, traffic steering, load balancing, routing, and capacity planning.
• Develop systems for origin protection, cache hierarchies, cache invalidation, failover, and traffic distribution across points of presence.
• Build automation for configuration management, deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows.
• Partner with network, systems, and software engineering teams to resolve latency, throughput, availability, and delivery-quality issues.
• Participate in on-call rotations, respond to incidents, document infrastructure, and drive reliability improvements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant network, systems, or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, DNS, and internet traffic routing.
• Hands-on experience with CDN, edge, reverse-proxy, caching, load-balancing, or high-volume web-delivery infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of cache-control directives, TTLs, cache keys, invalidation or purge mechanisms, and origin shielding.
• Production Linux experience and infrastructure automation using Python, Bash, Perl, or similar scripting languages.
• Expert troubleshooting, incident response, technical documentation, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with anycast, BGP, traffic engineering, and multi-region traffic failover.
• Experience with DNS-based traffic steering, geo-routing, or global load balancing.
• Knowledge of DDoS mitigation and origin-protection strategies.
• Experience with BIRD, FRR, or other open-source routing daemons on Linux.
• Background in video delivery, streaming media, or bandwidth-intensive platforms.
