Principal Product Manager II, AI/Vectors (AI)

Salary: $199,700–$315,900 USD base salary; select locations including Seattle, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City Metro Area have an alternate range of $239,800–$379,300 USD.

What you will do

• Own the vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap for the vector database and core search use cases across serverless and self-managed deployments.
• Lead strategy for embedding and reranking models, vector indexing, semantic ingestion, model lifecycle, and end-to-end retrieval quality.
• Conduct market, competitive, and model research to identify trends, user personas, and product opportunities.
• Partner with engineering, applied research, cloud, and model teams to validate roadmap assumptions and resolve technical trade-offs.
• Define and defend metrics including recall, latency, index size, ingestion throughput, and total cost of ownership.
• Manage operating cadence, priorities, milestones, resource allocation, and communication with stakeholders and executives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of product management experience, including significant work with technical infrastructure, databases, search, or ML/AI platforms.
• Working knowledge of vector search fundamentals, including embeddings, approximate nearest neighbor indexing, similarity metrics, recall-versus-latency trade-offs, and hybrid retrieval.
• Working knowledge of generative models, model fine-tuning, model capabilities, and document processing for large corpora.
• Experience shipping developer-facing or infrastructure-facing products adopted at scale.
• Ability to collaborate credibly with engineers and research teams on technical decisions.
