Hardware Test Engineer (Electrical)

Location: San Francisco, United States; onsite work with hands-on laboratory testing

Salary: $113,000–$150,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Contribute to design-for-reliability and validation strategies for future electrical products.
• Define and execute performance, reliability, compliance, and stress-test plans for circuit boards and system-level electronics.
• Develop automated Python and Linux-based test setups for data collection, logging, and analysis.
• Perform electrical validation, including power cycling, fault injection, communication robustness, and analog/digital signal characterization.
• Set up lab instrumentation, solder and debug boards, analyze test data, and present actionable findings.
• Drive root-cause analysis of test failures and collaborate with electrical, mechanical, systems, design, and leadership teams.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing and executing validation or reliability tests for electronic hardware.
• Knowledge of power electronics, analog circuits, and digital communication interfaces.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and other electrical validation instrumentation.
• Experience with statistical analysis of test results, Python scripting, technical writing, and test documentation.
• Ability to perform hands-on test setup, instrumentation, soldering, debugging, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience leading projects with diverse teams and mentoring junior test engineers or technicians.
• Experience with high-voltage equipment up to 600V and AC/DC power systems.
• Knowledge of UL, NEC, IEC, ISO, and other national or international safety and regulatory requirements.
• Experience performing root-cause analysis of field failures.
