Hardware Test Engineer II (Aerospace) (HITL testbeds/EGSE): Designing, building, and debugging hardware-in-the-loop testbeds and electrical ground support equipment for LEO satellite missions with an accent on electromechanical systems, electronics interfaces, and hands-on integration. Focus on scaling testbed infrastructure, translating flight-hardware designs into test systems, and solving hardware and software interface issues across satellite test operations.
Location: San Jose, California; onsite five days per week
Salary: $157,000–$182,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do
- Lead the architecture, form factor, hardware, and interfaces of future hardware-in-the-loop testbeds.
- Design next-generation electrical ground support equipment for powering, commanding, and monitoring satellites during integration and testing.
- Translate flight-hardware block diagrams, schematics, and production drawings into testbed designs.
- Build, integrate, bring up, and support testbed hardware in daily fleet operations.
- Maintain architecture diagrams, interface definitions, and design documentation.
- Debug hardware and software interface issues to root cause while coordinating with electrical, software, systems, supply chain, production, and facilities teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with complex electromechanical systems, including 2+ years in test, testbed, or test-infrastructure development.
- Background in electrical engineering, embedded software, mechanical engineering, or industrial controls.
- Experience designing electrical, mechanical, or integrated hardware systems for others to build and use.
- Ability to work from electrical schematics, block diagrams, and production drawings.
- Strong hardware and software debugging skills using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and similar test equipment.
- Programming or scripting experience with Python, Bash, or similar; knowledge of electronics, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and Linux.
Nice to have
- Experience with HITL testbeds, lab automation, or large-scale test infrastructure.
- Electrical CAD or harness design experience, preferably Altium.
- Mechanical CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks, for rack and fixture design.
- Experience with industrial automation, rack-based electronics, networking, power distribution, aerospace, or other high-reliability industries.
