Senior Hardware Lab Technician (Wearable Consumer Electronics): Supporting the development of wearable consumer electronics through prototype testing, assembly, debugging, rework, and lab operations with an accent on fine-pitch soldering, electrical and mechanical validation, and hardware lifecycle management. Focus on building automated test setups, analyzing failure data, maintaining compliant lab infrastructure, and resolving complex hardware issues with cross-functional engineering teams.
Location: New York City, United States; on-site. International travel is required.
Salary: $90,000–$130,000 per year plus equity.

What you will do
- Perform electrical and mechanical testing, prototype debugging, rework, failure analysis, and root-cause investigations.
- Build electronic devices, mechanical fixtures, and test setups, including automated data-collection workflows using LabVIEW or Python.
- Order, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment while enforcing ESD, chemical-handling, safety, and lab-organization standards.
- Manage prototype hardware through receiving, inventory tracking, secure storage, distribution, and disposal.
- Maintain hardware-related IT systems, network configurations, data logging, and cloud-based tools for remote collaboration.
- Analyze test data, prepare reports and visualizations, support engineers with troubleshooting, and train lab users on equipment and safety practices.
Requirements
- 4+ years of lab technician experience in hardware product development, consumer electronics, wearables, or high-tech R&D.
- Expertise in fine-pitch soldering and reworking, including 0201 or smaller SMT, through-hole, and BGA components, plus PCB assembly and validation.
- Ability to interpret complex electrical schematics and board layouts and perform signal integrity analysis.
- Experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, data loggers, electronic loads, and logic analyzers.
- Knowledge of Windows, macOS, Linux, basic networking, and automation scripting with Python or Bash.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related technical field; international travel availability required.

- IPC-A-610, CompTIA A+, or lab safety certifications.
- Experience with ERP or asset-tracking tools and lab compliance systems.
