Systems Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Convert customer and product needs into structured, traceable system requirements and participate in system architecture definition.
• Lead architecture for product lines where applicable and allocate requirements to subsystems ensuring alignment across mechanical, electrical, software, controls, AI, and perception domains.
• Define and support system verification, validation, and certification strategies including test plans and acceptance criteria.
• Maintain key systems engineering artifacts such as requirements specs, architecture, interface definitions, and traceability documentation.
• Support system integration and performance validation throughout prototype and product phases, facilitating transition to production and deployment.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Munich and work on-site.
• MSc or PhD in Robotics, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline with 3+ years of experience preferred.
• Experience developing complex robotic or safety-related autonomous systems with knowledge of system integration, lifecycle processes, and architecture collaboration.
• Expertise in requirements management, system architecture tools, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
• Good understanding of mechatronic components, robotic hardware architecture, sensors, and robotics software frameworks such as ROS/ROS2.
• Experience with functional safety, cybersecurity, and certification standards relevant to robotics and mechatronics (ISO 13849, ISO 10218, ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; comfortable in agile or scaled development environments.
