Field Applications Engineer (SATCOM)

Location: Tampa, Florida, United States; field work and up to 30% travel within and outside the continental United States

Salary: $80,000–$126,500 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $99,500–$149,500 annually.

What you will do

• Install, test, operate, monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and administer SATCOM hubs and associated remote terminals.
• Support airborne mobile Communications-on-the-Move platforms and live military operations.
• Troubleshoot RF, IP networking, server and virtualization, Windows, Linux, and proprietary software issues.
• Provide local and remote technical support and act as the primary customer interface.
• Brief technical and non-technical stakeholders, manage tickets and documentation, and improve operational processes.
• Complete training at the Carlsbad facility for up to three months before deployment.

Requirements

• Active United States Top Secret/SCI clearance and US citizenship required.
• 5+ years of experience with IP-based military SATCOM systems.
• Working knowledge of Ku/Ka-band RF equipment, ACUs, HPAs, UPCs, tracking antennas, test equipment, and communications theory.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix, server virtualization, IP networking equipment, routers, switches, security appliances, and traffic shapers.
• Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, or SSCP, or the ability to obtain it within six months.
• Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24x7 environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and travel up to 30% CONUS and OCONUS.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in telecommunications or a related discipline.
• CCNA certification.
