Senior Tactical Datalink Test Engineer (Data Link)

Location: Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, United States; travel to contractor facilities, test sites, and other locations in CONUS and OCONUS up to 25% of the time.

What you will do

• Plan, execute, and report on test events for datalink gateway systems.
• Test systems hosting Joint Range Extension, Link 16, SADL, VMF, and emerging datalinks.
• Operate datalink systems and equipment and work with MIL-STD-6016 J-message formats.
• Develop test plans, procedures, schedules, technical documents, briefings, and formal presentations.
• Review customer requirements and participate in test planning meetings with system program offices, other services, joint battle labs, and contractors.
• Lead system testing, collect and reduce test data, and produce timely technical reports.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a technical field and at least 10 years of relevant technical experience, or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of the degree.
• Active Secret security clearance and eligibility for Top Secret clearance are required.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Working knowledge of Department of Defense tactical datalinks and the ability to communicate technical details in writing and verbally.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
• Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Nice to have

• Air Battle Manager experience on E-3 AWACS or E-8 JSTARS platforms.
• Experience with Link 16, SADL, VMF, data link radios, tactical datalinks mission threads, or emerging tactical communications technologies.
• Knowledge of computer networking, Microsoft and Linux operating systems, systems analysis, application software development, DT&E processes, and Air Force command and control.
• Security+ certification.
