Director of Civil Engineering and Construction

Location: Bedford, United Kingdom; regular travel across the UK and occasional international travel required.

What you will do

• Lead the delivery of property development construction projects covering enabling works, infrastructure, utilities, roads, structures, and buildings.
• Coordinate contractors on site and manage procurement, contracting, performance, construction methodologies, and project procedures.
• Coordinate design development and delivery with engineering, technical design, operations, facilities, and construction stakeholders.
• Lead construction sequencing, phasing, schedule coordination, progress reporting, quality reporting, and project documentation.
• Manage project budgets and schedules while identifying and resolving construction, operational, interface, and delivery risks.
• Oversee safety planning and compliance with EHS standards throughout project delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Significant experience in infrastructure, engineering, construction, and construction management procedures.
• Experience managing large-scale or turnkey construction and project management activities.
• Ability to lead teams, coordinate stakeholders, negotiate with vendors and contractors, and manage changing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and presentations.
• Knowledge of applicable UK construction regulations, permitting requirements, CDM regulations, environmental standards, and safety requirements is required for project delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience with UK construction contracting methodologies, including NEC contracts and collaborative delivery models.
• Experience managing fast-track construction programs with aggressive schedules and multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Experience coordinating with public agencies, utility providers, local authorities, and external stakeholders.
• Experience with large infrastructure projects and turnkey delivery.
