TL;DR
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist I-II (Manufacturing): Managing workplace safety, workers’ compensation, regulatory compliance, EHS training, audits, emergency response, and environmental sampling at an industrial lift truck plant with an accent on OSHA, EPA, hazardous waste, and ISO 14001/45001 requirements. Focus on investigating incidents, developing safety programs, coordinating hazardous waste procedures, and improving facility-wide EHS performance through risk assessments and employee engagement.

Location: Greenville, North Carolina, United States; onsite at the plant

What you will do

  • Manage workers’ compensation cases, accident and injury investigations, documentation, claims coordination, and required state and federal reporting.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain EHS training programs, annual training plans, materials, and training records.
  • Administer EHS processes and procedures supporting OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and the Business Management System.
  • Conduct facility safety audits, hazard assessments, PPE compliance audits, Gemba walks, accident reviews, and near-miss investigations.
  • Lead emergency response activities and maintain related processes, including first-aid supplies, spill kits, job rotation, first responders, and hazardous materials training.
  • Perform quarterly industrial wastewater and stormwater sampling and support safety initiatives, trend analysis, Kaizen Events, and Value Stream Mapping.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline; 8–12 years of progressive EHS experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Four to seven years of industry EHS experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state EHS regulations, including Workers’ Compensation, RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA, NPDES, CAA, PSM/RMP, SPPP/SPCC, DOT, OSHA, and EPA requirements.
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste identification, handling, storage, disposal, risk assessment, and personnel training requirements under 40 CFR 264.16.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and ISO 45001 Occupational Safety Management Systems.
  • Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, analytical, organizational, planning, problem-solving, and MS Office skills.
