EHS Specialist (Manufacturing)

Location: San Jose, California, USA; primary work in manufacturing and warehouse facilities with occasional travel to field construction sites, contract manufacturing partners, and local facilities.

Salary: $120,000–$130,000 annual salary, applicable to California.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures for manufacturing and warehouse operations.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and hazard-control activities across industrial work areas.
• Design and deliver onboarding, safety training, toolbox talks, SOPs, and visual standards for manufacturing and field personnel.
• Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and property damage; perform root cause analysis and track corrective actions.
• Maintain emergency action and fire prevention plans, conduct drills, and support the site Safety Committee.
• Provide EHS oversight, auditing, training, and contractor safety coordination for field construction activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and Cal/OSHA regulations, with experience developing EHS programs and safety training.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and influencing skills, including root cause analysis and data trending.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and EHS management systems; valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, climb ladders and stairs, lift up to 25 lbs occasionally, and work while using required PPE.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
• Contractor or supplier safety management experience.
• Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma background.
• Bilingual Spanish, Vietnamese, or other communication skills.
