Staff Product Architect (AI)

Location: San Diego, United States; hybrid

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Decompose productized client engagements into named technical components with configuration surfaces, ownership, maturity ratings, and product requirements.
• Define module classification, naming, versioning, documentation, and configurable build standards.
• Track component attachment rates, reuse value, engineering hours, build cost, and margin impact to prioritize productization.
• Make final scoping decisions on whether client requests use existing blocks, component assemblies, or net-new engineering.
• Partner with Strategy, Sales, Solution Architecture, Service Expansion, and Engineering on client discovery, pricing, deployments, and upgrades.
• Read code, set architectural direction, and gradually build a small engineering team focused on high-leverage reusable components.

Requirements

• 10+ years building production software, including 3+ years owning architecture decisions across multiple products or client engagements.
• Experience turning bespoke implementations into reusable, configurable components and deciding which work is worth productizing.
• Production experience with LLM orchestration, retrieval, document-processing pipelines, voice agents, and agentic workflows.
• Strong hands-on skills with TypeScript, Node, Python, Next.js, Postgres or Supabase, and cloud deployment on Vercel, Render, or AWS.
• Ability to translate architecture into hours, cost, scope, and margin and defend estimates to sales teams and clients.
• Excellent written communication, sound prioritization with incomplete information, and willingness to grow into a leadership role.

• Experience establishing technical standards adopted across an engineering organization.
• Experience working directly with client teams during solution assessment and scoping.
