Functional Safety Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Barcelona, Spain or Munich, Germany. Occasional domestic and international travel required for 5–10% of the time.

What you will do

• Architect hardware solutions supporting compliance with ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and other applicable safety standards.
• Derive functional safety requirements with technical marketing, design, quality, and other engineering teams.
• Own and oversee ISO 26262 documentation in JAMA.
• Perform safety analyses including DFA, FMEDA, and FTA.
• Support safety assessments with third-party assessors and participate in ISO 26262 standards conferences.
• Partner with technical marketing engineers to develop aligned design specifications for automotive power products.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in safety-relevant IC product development.
• Strong understanding of analog and mixed-signal ICs.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication, time management, initiative, and result orientation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and regions in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with functional-safety-relevant IC product development processes.
• Automotive or industrial experience.
• Experience with ISO 26262 or IEC 61508.
• Experience developing MCUs or sensors.
