Technical Sewing Specialist I (Aerospace)

Location: North Austin, Texas; ITAR eligibility requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. authorizations.

What you will do

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair soft goods components such as engine insulation blankets and heat-resistant textile parts.
• Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, patterns, and work instructions.
• Operate industrial sewing machines, sergers, hand tools, and automated CNC fabric cutting tables.
• Measure, cut, prepare materials, and verify finished products against precise tolerances.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to resolve fabrication issues and improve manufacturing processes.
• Document work performed, materials used, quality results, and process improvements while following safety procedures.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in sewing, soft goods fabrication, or upholstery.
• Proficiency with industrial sewing equipment and hand tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a production environment.
• Must meet applicable U.S. Government ITAR export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with aerospace, automotive, marine, or industrial soft goods, including insulated blankets and covers.
• Familiarity with fiberglass, silica, Kevlar, Nomex, carbon fiber, and other technical textiles.
• Experience with CNC cutting equipment, dimensional inspection, technical textile finishing, or reinforcement techniques.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, AS9100, ISO 9001, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Basic computer skills and experience documenting work in manufacturing software or digital work instructions.
